PADI Go Tec Diving Courses
DSAT, a division of PADI, has released its new series of programs, The TecRec series :
This whole series of planned courses is a move in a new direction. It is aimed at divers who have achieved the Rescue Certification or above and have an interest in going to either deeper depths or longer times, using full technical dive gear, philosophy and principles.
PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver
This is the entry level certification course for divers wishing to utilize Enriched Air Nitrox as a breathing gas, to extend bottom time. This course is designed to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for using Nitrox mixes from 22% to 40% Oxygen content.

The course is 1-2 days duration. You need to be aged 15 or over, an Open Water Diver or above with 10 logged dives.

This course is designed to qualify recreational divers to use Enriched Air ("Nitrox") for no stop recreational diving. The program addresses the use of :
Enriched Air with 22 percent to 40 percent Oxygen, with emphasis on Enriched Air with 32 and 36 percent Oxygen. |

| Prerequisites |
Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Advanced Plus or equivalent (for this program, equivalency is proof of certification beyond entry level with experience in deep diving and navigation),
or as a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent) with proof of at least 10 dives logged beyond training dives for certification. |

| Course overview |
Students must successfully complete the Enriched Air Diver Exam and demonstrate mastery of all performance objectives during the Practical Application Session and Enriched Air training dives.
To be successful on the exam, the student must either score 100 percent initially, or score 75 percent or higher and have each question missed explained to him until mastery is achieved. |

DSAT Tec Diver Level One
This course is designed as the first step in the new PADI Tec Rec program. It covers the use of air and Nitrox up to 60% to extend no stop dives to a maximum depth of 40 m. The course is 5 days duration.
You need to be PADI Advanced Diver or equivalent, aged 18, PADI Nitrox Diver or equivalent, PADI Deep Diver or equivalent and a minimum of 50 logged dives with at least:
- 10 on Enriched Air
- 12 deeper than 18m
- 6 deeper than 30m

The Apprentice Tec Diver Course is aimed at those divers with a clear interest in Technical Diving, but who lack the prerequisite experience to fully enter Technical Diving.
The course qualifies you to make gas switches, extended no decompression dives to 40 m using air DSAT1 Enriched Air Nitrox up to 60% using technical diving equipment DSAT1 procedures. |

Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent. |
| Minimum age of 18. |
| Certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver or equivalent. |
| Certified as a PADI Deep Diver or equivalent. |
| Minimum of 50 logged dives, of which at least 10 are Enriched Air Nitrox dives,12 deeper than 18 m DSAT1 6 deeper than 30 m. |
| A Medical signed by a physician within the last 12 months. |

| Duration |
5 days including theory DSAT1 7 training dives. |

The first 3 days cover the introduction of the skills in shallow waters. Diving each day DSAT1 covering the first part of the theory.
The next 2 days are 2 dives a day on the boat putting the skills into practice with each days diving getting deeper or longer.
After the diving a bit more theory is covered as well as planning dives for the next day.
The Exam must be completed before dive 6, consisting of 100 questions of multiple choice on the theory DSAT1 20 questions of practical calculations of dive planning. Pass mark is 80% on each section of each exam.
This concludes the Apprentice Tec Diver Course.
Students can either stop here DSAT1 get certified as Apprentice Tec Diver or if meeting the pre-requisites for the Deep Tec Course, you many continue into that course. |

DSAT Tec Deep Diver
The second step in the new PADI Tec Rec program covers you to do decompression stop dives and extended no stop dives using up to 100% Oxygen to a depth of 50m.
You need to be a PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent, aged 18, PADI Nitrox Diver or equivalent, PADI Deep Diver or equivalent or have 20 dives deeper than 30m logged and a minimum of 100 logged dives with at least:
- 20 on Enriched Air
- 25 deeper than 18m
- 15 deeper than 30m
The course is 9 days duration or 5 days if you are already an DSAT Tec Diver Level One.

The DSAT TEC deep diver course is the primary course for technical deep diving beyond recreational diving. The course qualifies you to make gas switches, extended no decompression dives, decompression stop dives and accelerated decompression dives using air, Nitrox and Oxygen to 50 m using technical diving equipment. |

Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent. |
| Certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent. |
| Minimum age of 18. |
| Certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver or equivalent. |
| Certified as a PADI Deep Diver or equivalent. |
| Minimum of 100 logged dives - of which at least 20 are Enriched Air Nitrox dives, 25 dives are deeper than 18m and at least 15 dives are deeper than 30 m. |
| A Medical signed by a physician within the last 12 months. |

9 day intensive course including theory and 12 dives. |

After the diving a bit more theory is covered as well as planning dives for the next day. With the completion of the first exam before dive 6, this concludes the Apprentice Tec Diver Course.
A further 2 days of diving is required to complete the Tec Deep Diver Course, which covers you to make decompression stop dives and extended no stop dives using up to 100% Oxygen to a depth of 50m.
The next day is spent doing 2 dives putting the final skills into practice. After the dives a bit more theory is covered as well as planning dives for the next day.
The final 3 days are spent doing one dive a day. Each dive is a decompression dive in the range of 45-50m.
The second exam is completed before dive 12.
A few equipment suggestions to bring:
- A spare mask
- A wetsuit thick enough for dives of over 1 hour
- Reel and bag
- Wrist slate
- Two depth gauges and timers (air computers will not be happy on this course)
This is 5 days of diving with the first day being a shallow water review and equipment sort out day. |

DSAT Gas Blender
This course provides training in blending Enriched Air and/or Helium blends including Trimix.
Students must be aged 18 and be certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver or hold a qualifying Enriched Air certification.
